German Airways Appoints Axel Schefe as Managing Director of Technology
Cologne/Bonn, 30 March 2026 - German Airways GmbH (German Airways) has appointed Axel Schefe as of 01.04. as Managing Director Technology. With this personnel decision, the company is specifically strengthening its technical organisation and relying on experience in the combination of strategic management and operational implementation.
Axel Schefe, a graduate aerospace engineer, has many years of experience in the aviation industry. Since 2007, Axel Schefe has held various management positions in the aviation industry, where he was responsible for key areas such as fleet management and strategic technical purchasing. In these roles, he developed structures and processes in a targeted manner and strengthened operational efficiency.
Most recently, Schefe was Managing Director of the Estonian airline Marabu. In this role, he was responsible for the structural development of the organisation and the stabilisation of operational processes during a challenging start-up phase.
In his new position at German Airways, he will further develop the technical division, consolidate existing structures and expand cooperation between the operating units. Against the background of the increasing relevance of the technical division, Axel Schefe will drive forward the strategic development in order to systematically realise the entry into the technical third-party business.
