Anniversary with a unique aircraft design / Herpa Miniaturmodelle GmbH and German Airways cooperate in the modelling company's anniversary year
Cologne/Bonn, Dietenhofen, 1 July 2024. The renowned model making company Herpa Miniaturmodelle and the traditional airline German Airways are now realising a particularly striking cooperation idea: On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Herpa Miniaturmodelle, an Embraer E190 of the airline with the registration D-ACJJ will be created in a special anniversary design by Herpa. The jet will then be on the road throughout Europe from 3 July this year.
Herpa Miniaturmodelle GmbH, founded in 1949 by Wilhelm Hergenröther, has established itself over the past decades as the market and innovation leader for true-to-original miniature models. Initially the focus was on landscaping, followed by car and lorry models. In 1988, the company started with aeroplane models, which became increasingly detailed over time. Many aeroplane fans attach great importance to precise printing and a true-to-original representation - the miniature manufacturer implements this in various scales and thus remains true to its slogan "For the love of detail".
German Airways, the second oldest German airline, is making one of its Embraer E190 jets available for this special project. In the coming weeks, the aircraft with the registration D-ACJJ will be given an exclusive Herpa design that reflects the many years of expertise of both companies. "Our cooperation combines two passions: a love of aviation and an enthusiasm for detailed models," explains German Airways Managing Director Maren Wolters. "In this way, the company's 75-year history is brought to the skies in an impressive way."
There are a great many aircraft fans, particularly among modellers, who are enthusiastic about the technology and design of modern passenger aircraft. This co-operation will therefore not only be of great interest to Herpa collectors, but also to the wider community of aircraft enthusiasts.
The special livery will not only be on display in the air. Herpa is planning to produce a limited edition of miniature models of the anniversary aircraft on a scale of 1:200. Aircraft collectors and modelling enthusiasts can look forward to a unique piece of aviation history that combines the passion for precision of both companies.
