Fleet expansion: German Airways receives new Embraer E-190 aircraft

Berlin, 18 December 2019

German Airways will further expand and modernise its fleet at the beginning of next year. To this end, the airline has launched its own fleet integration programme. A total of four additional Embraer E-190 LR aircraft are to be integrated into the existing fleet between January and April 2020. There are also plans to place further orders for this type of aircraft. German Airways could take delivery of the next E-190 jet as early as summer 2020.

Dominik Wiehage, COO of German Airways: "We are delighted to start the new year 2020 with this ambitious programme. The acquisition of additional Embraer aircraft will also allow us to realise further synergies in terms of maintenance and training."

The Embraer E-190 is one of the best-selling regional jets in the world and is used by many established European airlines. The aircraft has 100 seats and is considered to be very advanced in terms of avionics. In view of the announced orders, the German Airways fleet will in future comprise 15 Dash 8-Q400 turboprops and eight Embraer E-190 regional jets.
