German Airways' D-AMWO now flies with a mask: the airline's first aircraft has been fitted with new cockpit window surrounds / other jets in the fleet will follow
While masks are compulsory everywhere in Europe, the first Embraer E190 from German Airways is now wearing a mask around the cockpit windows. The aircraft with the registration D-AMWO returned today from Holland, where it has been repainted in recent weeks.
The aircraft had not only been registered in Italy in the last 15 months, but had also been painted by EGO Airways. So after the re-registration, a visit to the paint shop was also on the agenda. There, the aircraft was the first in the German Airways fleet to be given the sleek black mask around the cockpit windows. It will become standard in the entire German Airways fleet in the coming months.
The jet will return to service in mid-May and will be used until then to train pilots in London City for the challenging approach to the British capital's inner-city airport: D-AMWO will leave Cologne/Bonn Airport for the UK again on Wednesday.
Maren Wolters, Managing Director of German Airways: "The German Airways team did a great job in retrieving our Embraer and transferring it to Germany. We are delighted to have our aircraft back home and are looking forward to using it with one of our new customers. Then the D-AMWO will also receive its final livery."
