Lübeck Air expands its fleet with an Embraer E190 from German Airways
Just a fortnight ago, the young airline Lübeck Air published eleven new summer destinations, and many bookings have already been received, because from 2022, city destinations such as Dublin and Krakow, holiday islands such as Ibiza, Menorca, Corsica and Sardinia, the sunny destination of Zadar, the English Channel Islands, Iceland and Bergen in Norway can be reached directly from Lübeck.
"We launched an ATR 72-500 a year and a half ago and connect Lübeck with Bern, Munich, Stuttgart and Salzburg. For some of the new routes, it now makes sense to use a jet," says Lübeck Air Managing Director Prof Dr Jürgen Friedel. It is now clear which aircraft will be used to fly these routes: "It will be an E190 from German Airways. We are growing with a sense of proportion. The corresponding wet lease agreement between the partners German Airways, Air Alsie and Lübeck Air was signed today," reports Friedel.
German Airways will provide an E190 including crew and maintenance, while Lübeck Air's partner Air Alsie will ensure that the airline's overall flight schedule also runs smoothly with its own ATR72. "As the contractual partner, we are responsible for the routes, flight times and prices vis-à-vis the passengers," Friedel continues.
Lübeck Air's Managing Director is delighted about the new co-operation: "In German Airways, we have found a partner that suits us very well. Similar to Lübeck Air and the Danish Air Alsie, German Airways attaches great importance to safety, reliability and quality for passengers. From May, the E190 will be stationed in Lübeck, thus significantly strengthening the airport's position."
Maren Wolters, Managing Director of German Airways, is also pleased about the cooperation: "With the acquisition of Rostock Airport, we have strengthened our position in northern Germany. The cooperation with Lübeck Air that is now beginning fits perfectly into the concept, as the maintenance of our aircraft will be relocated from Cologne to Rostock and we are therefore in the immediate vicinity of Lübeck Airport."
With the Embraer 190, Lübeck Air remains true to its commitment to sustainability and quality wherever possible. "The Embraer E190 is Chapter 4 certified and therefore has a comparably very low fuel consumption within the current generation of regional jets. The 100-seater impresses with a very long range and the popular 2-seater layout: as with the ATR, there are only window and aisle seats. On board, passengers can expect the usual good Lübeck Air service, hand and checked baggage, an on-board meal and check-in are still included in the Lübeck Air ticket price.
