Cologne/Berlin, 20.02.2019

  • Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter (LGW) to join the Berlin-based Zeitfracht Group on 1 April
  • EW Managing Director Michael Knitter: "The change is an important step towards strengthening LGW's future viability."
  • The change also marks the start of a longer-term wet-lease agreement between LGW and Eurowings / LGW's contribution to Eurowings' route network remains unchanged
  • Zeitfracht Managing Director Wolfram Simon-Schröter: "We want to strengthen our aviation division and expand the LGW fleet in the medium term."

Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter (LGW) is moving from Eurowings to the Zeitfracht Group on 1 April. The corresponding contract was signed today in Berlin.

The change also marks the start of a longer-term cooperation between LGW and Eurowings in the form of a wet lease agreement. This means that LGW's contribution to the Eurowings route network will remain unchanged. The change of LGW is also an important step for Eurowings towards a standardised Airbus A320 fleet structure in the short and medium-haul business.

"The move to the Zeitfracht Group strengthens LGW's future viability," says Eurowings Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Michael Knitter. "We are delighted that the wet lease means that LGW will continue to serve us and our customers with its professionalism, expertise and passion."

Nothing will change for LGW employees as a result of the move to the Zeitfracht Group; their contracts will remain unchanged.

"We look forward to welcoming LGW and its employees on board soon," says Wolfram Simon-Schröter, Managing Director of the Zeitfracht Group. "LGW fits perfectly into our strategy of sustainably strengthening the aviation sector - we want to expand our fleet in the medium term by purchasing additional aircraft."
