Walter Böhnke leaves WDL management and becomes Chairman of the Advisory Board at Zeitfracht

Berlin, 29 May 2019

Walter Böhnke (67), Managing Director of WDL Aviation for many years, will leave the management of WDL on 30 June 2019. In future, he will support Zeitfracht Luftfahrt Holding GmbH in an advisory capacity as Chairman of the Advisory Board. The company is thus honouring Böhnke's wish to take a step back professionally and hand over the baton to the next generation.

A trained lawyer and pilot, Böhnke began his flying career in 1974, joining the predecessor of today's WDL Aviation, "Westdeutsche Luftwerbung" (WDL), founded by Theodor Wüllenkemper in 1955, in 1982. He quickly rose from pilot to flight operations manager and managing director and successfully steered the fortunes of WDL from 1985.

Wolfram Simon-Schröter, Managing Director of the Zeitfracht Group: "We would like to thank Walter Böhnke for everything he has done for WDL; his commitment and expertise have made WDL a permanent fixture and a reliable partner in German aviation. We are therefore very pleased that he will continue to support us with his expertise on the Advisory Board."

Simon-Schröter will lead WDL as sole managing director on an interim basis from July.
